Ans. Having grown very big in size, Bruno was sent to the zoo at Mysore. But Brunc was not happy after getting separated from his foster family and was getting weak. Ans. The author got the baby sloth bear in a freak accident. Once the author and his
friends were passing through the sugarcane fields near Mysore, Bruno’s mother was shot
dead by one of his friends. The little cub was moving on the body of his mother. The author
managed to capture it and brought it home.
लेखक को भालू का बच्चा एक विचित्र इत्तेफाक से मिला। एक बार लेखक और उसके कुछ दोस्त मैसूरके पास गन्ने के खेत से गुज़र रहे थे। उसके ही एक दोस्त से ब्रूनो की माँ की हत्या हो गयी। छोटा भालू काबच्चा अपनी माँ के ऊपर चल रहा था। किसी तरह लेखक ने उस पकड़ा और अपने घर ले आया।

Ans. The author’s wife was extremely happy to get the baby sloth bear as a pet. She put a coloured ribbon around his neck and named him Bruno.
लेखक की पत्नी भालू के बच्चे को एक पालतू पशु के रूप में पाकर बहुत खुश हुई। उसने उसके गले में एक रंगीन रिबन बाँध दिया और उसका नाम रखा ब्रूनो।

Ans. Once the narrator had drained the old engine oil from his car and kept it to treat the termites. Bruno, who would drink anything that came his way, drank about one gallon of this oil. However, it did not have any negative effect on him.

Ans. “A mystery I propose to explain.” Gerrard proposes that his life style was
mysterious. He himself was a criminal, this is the reason he did not meet many people and
did not have any visitors. He proposed to explain the reason for his misteriousness.
जिरार्ड बताता है कि उसकी जिन्दगी जीने का तरीका रहस्य भरा था। वह खुद भी हत्यारा था यही कारण है कि वह ज्यादा लोगों से नहीं मिलता और उसके घर कोई मिलने नहीं आता। वह अपनी रहस्यमयी जिन्दगी के बारे में बताना चाहता था।

Ans. This has been said twice in the play. In the first occasion, it is spoken by the intruder revealing his plan to kill Gerrard. Secondly, it is spoken by Gerrard before he reveals his fictitious identity to the intruder. The intruder’s surprise is his plan to kill Gerrard and take on his identity to lead a secure and hasslefree life.
Whereas, Gerrard’s surprise is-his fictitious identity, his way ofrefraining the intruder
from killing him.

Ans. The intruder calls himself as a poor hunted rat’ because he is being chased by the
police and he has to keep dodging them like a rat being chased by a cat.
घुसपैठिया अपने को बेचारा चूहा इसलिए कहता है क्योंकि पुलिस द्वारा उसकी खोज की जा रही है और उसे उन्हें उसी प्रकार चकमा देना पड़ रहा है जैसे एक चूहा एक बिल्ली को देता है।
